Re: Writers - what tools / techniques do you use to write?

I installed Lyx to have a look at it. Does it have a template for novels? Can it export to ePub?

Re: Writers - what tools / techniques do you use to write?

I write with a fountain pen and transcribe it with LibreOffice, using a template. (You don't want to do carriage return-tab for paragraphs if you're going to make ePubs) You can check out my books on my website (free downloads) if you want to see how they turned out.

Re: LXQt and KDE respins - personal projects

The popup thumbnails on GTK apps are unreadable because the text is almost the same color as the background. I've encountered a similar problem when using Breeze-dark Plasma theme and GTK2 programs. Solution has been to use the GTK config in System Settings to set Breeze-dark also as GTK theme and ...

Re: LXQt and KDE respins - personal projects

I'm running KDE on MX-18, and there's one problem I've always had in this situation. The popup thumbnails on GTK apps are unreadable because the text is almost the same color as the background. I use gkrellm, so it's a problem for me. I have just figured out, though, that the problem is fixed if I s...

Re: Are you a writer?

Hmm how do you mean? Over here words are pulledtogether like that in sentences. But it depends whether or not they should be, and that is what is hard to figure out. English is easier for me than that factor in Dutch. Thank goodness for google ;) I meant when you pull words together to make a big w...

Just sent off the 2nd version of the manuscript. All their comments have been taken to heart. Errors have been taken out, stupid Dutch language is hard with its pulled together words and such.

Fingers crossed that this one is going to get approved!!
So, how do you change the "middle" of a word?

Re: [SOLVED] mp3 gain - normalize audio

Audible (audiobook people) requires -3dB. I've used mp3gain, soundconverter, audacity, etc. Audacity is the only one where I can specify the peak in dB. The others allow setting a peak volume, but I don't know how that relates to dB. Unfortunately, I don't know how to use audacity on a batch of fil...

Re: [SOLVED] mp3 gain - normalize audio

Google audacity batch processing. I think they have that, they call it chains... https://www.howtogeek.com/57571/how-to-quickly-edit-multiple-files-in-audacity/ I never used this, so I don't know how it works...but it seems promising. And in audacity, you specify the dB. ( I use -1 usually) Looks l...

Re: Are you a writer?

Way to go, ER. An actual book, with paper and everything. Can you give us a sneak peak at the cover image or anything?
